General

As we manage multiple companies, we are often out of the office meeting with clients. Please call before dropping by to ensure someone is on site, or leave us message. We check our messages throughout the day and will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Anytime you call the main office number (519) 253-1000 after hours, you will find instructions on how to contact a live person in the event of an emergency. If your call is not an emergency call, leave a message and we’ll get back to you on the next business day.

Debit, Credit (VISA or Mastercard) or Cheque.

We offer free needs assessments – call or email us to set up an appointment.

We are members of i-SIGMA (The International Secure Information Governance and Management Association) and have internal and external advisors who oversee and ensure that we maintain proper controls.

Document Management

Shredding (Drop-Off)

Yes, it is dependant upon size and location of the pick up. We charge a flat fee of $25.00 for any non-console client. Stairs and additional labour, i.e. loading files into interim bins so the clients can keep boxes, also incur extra fees.

Once you have dropped off your items we will ask you to pay. We accept Debit, Credit (VISA, Mastercard) or a cheque.

Drop Offs are accepted Tuesdays – 9:00 am to 12 noon and Thursdays – 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If these hours are inconvenient, please email admin@firststopservices.ca to set up an appointment to ensure someone is on-site to receive them.

We accept any container and then we will calculate size and dimensions back to a banker box.

Bring as much or as little as you like and we’ll shred them for you – and we promise to give you a quote upfront – no surprises!

Yes we do. Just let us know before we begin the shredding process and we will provide you with the certificate upon completion.

A Certificate of Destruction costs $15 ($13.27 + HST).

Staples and small paper clips are fine. If you’d like us to remove binder covers, larger clips or other items which should be shred separately, we charge a small additional fee.

After your documents are shred, they are compacted into a secured, locked, steel bin, picked up and taken to a recycling centre where they are mulched and then recycled.

Once the material leaves our warehouse, it is bleached and recycled. It is impossible to piece your documents back together because they are mixed in with thousands of other shredded documents.

All shredded material is housed in our secure warehouse, where only employees with proper screening and clearance may enter.

We offer two different levels of shredding:

  1. Bulk Strip Cut 5/8″
  2. Cross Cut Type III A (RCMP Security Level Three)

Both levels are safe, but some industries (e.g. Government) require certain security levels due to their regulations. Clients may choose to shred at either level; however, pricing varies.

Shredding (Pick-Up)

We will send you an invoice once the service is complete. You can then pay by calling in a CC (VISA, Mastercard) or by sending a cheque.

Yes, the truck is padlocked whenever it is unattended and only employees with proper screening and clearance are allowed inside the truck.

Yes, please email us at admin@firststopservices.ca, and you can schedule another pick-up.

We pride ourselves in being green and as we all know idling is horrible for the environment. We have adopted a secure process using our trucks and drivers, per industry standards, who will pick up your shredding onsite and will transport it back to our facility for destruction within 48 hours, unless otherwise specified.

Cardboard and paper are recycled separately and therefore they must be shred separately.

Document Storage

Give us a call – we have many options for you!

Clients can call our emergency line if they require a file after hours. There is a fee that is negotiated within the document management contract.

No, we pride ourselves on being a secure facility, for this reason only employees are permitted to enter our document storage facility. If you wish to request a file and come pick it up at our office instead of having it delivered, this is another option.

We can deliver them as requested per our tiered timelines within each contract, but typically files will arrive the next day, if the order is placed before 3:00pm.

Premium Self Storage

Our facility is heated in the winter and air-conditioned in the summer via a unique air filtering system. Humidity and temperature levels are monitored daily.

We are equipped with a layer of security from cameras to commercial grade padlocks so that you can be sure that whatever you store will be stored securely.

We have a loading bay where tenants can pull their cars or moving van into the privacy of the loading dock and shut the outside door to hold off the weather and prying eyes.

We have a regular maintenance schedule for pest control. However, we strive to keep our units dry as it is the humidity, which allows bugs to breed in damp cardboard as they might at other storage facilities that are not dehumidified.

Our units are priced as follows:

10×10   $154.00 + HST

10×20  $220.00 + HST

14×31   $475.00 + HST

17×31   $560.00 + HST

Your tenancy with us can last as long or as short as you’d like but we ask for a minimum of 5 days’ notice before your departure.

No, unfortunately we do not.

All tenants have 24/7 access to their units.

They are all 14 ft high.

No. First Stop Services will never keep a key to anyone’s storage unit or enter someone’s unit without permission. While renting with us, it is YOUR unit and therefore First Stop Services is not responsible for the belongings kept inside.

First Stop Services can have the lock removed for a fee of $75.00.
