Red Doors

If you’ve dropped off shredding at our warehouse lately, you may have noticed our new signs and paint job – our once forest green door is now our beautiful (First Stop) RED!

Although this update allowed us to showcase our company colours there is a hidden significance behind a red door!

Red Doors around the World:

China

Red is considered to be a lucky colour in Chinese culture. Many doors are painted red before the Chinese New Year in order to invite a year of good luck and happiness. In Feng Sui, the use of the colour red on a door is meant to symbolize the mouth of the home allowing chi to be drawn to the house.

United States of America

During the 19th century, a red door represented a safe stop for travelers and along the Underground Railroad, red doors symbolized a safe route for African slaves escaping captivity and traveling north.

Scotland

In Scotland, the old timely tradition of painting a door red began as a way to signify the status of a paid mortgage.

So, whatever the reason may be, red paint on sale or it just happens to be your favourite colour, rest assured that a red door will always be a conversation piece and full of positive meaning.
